Unveiling New Insights to Assess Water Losses via the Infrastructure Leakage Index (ILI) at WaterLoss 2024 Conference
Join our colleague Daniel Zipperer as he presents a pioneering study at the international WaterLoss 2024 conference in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain, with Dr. Jörg Kölbl from Blue Networks e.U. [www.bluenetworks.at] contributing as a co-author. The presentation highlighted the use of the Infrastructure Leakage Index (ILI) as a water loss performance indicator in benchmarking programs and the remarkably low ILI values of many water supply companies in Germany.
The research explores systemic and operational factors contributing to these low ILI figures, based on comprehensive data from Rhineland-Palatinate’s municipal water sector benchmarking program, which has been managed by aquabench GmbH since 2004. The findings provide deep insights into the complexities of assessing water losses in drinking water systems and offer actionable knowledge for industry professionals.
